About this trail
This trail helps children learn where their food comes from by exploring the fruit and vegetable aisle, the bakery, counters and chillers, as well as tasting some exciting new food.
What happens on the trail?
- Children will get the opportunity to touch, smell and taste different types of fruit and vegetables and learn about how and where they grow.
- They will go behind the scenes and meet the baker, learning all about how bread is made.
- They will visit the cheese counter and get to taste cheeses they may not have tried before.
- They will have a close encounter with fresh fish.
- Children will also get the chance to experience parts of the supermarket customers don’t usually get to see, such as the warehouse and chillers, as well as finding out why we store some food in freezers.
